St. Joseph and St. Mary's has a preschool through eighth grade enrollment of about 200 students. In the past six years, the enrollment at St. Joseph has increased by more than 50 students. Within the school there are 3 pre-kindergarten classes and one class of each grade kindergarten through eighth grade.
There are about 130 families within the school community. The staff includes one principal, thirteen classroom teachers, four full-time paraprofessionals, one office manager, part-time Title teacher, physical education teacher, music/band teacher, two part-time cooks, and one custodian. Of the certified teachers on staff, the average years teacher is over 20. Half of the staff members are graduates of Devils Lake, eight of which are alumni of St. Joseph.

St. Joseph School and St. Mary Academy, as an extension of our Parish, is made up of the staff, faculty, students, families, and clergy in a Christian educational environment. Our school's main purpose is the development of the Christian person by forming a positive self-image and promoting the living of Christian values. We strive to provide a loving and caring atmosphere where students develop confidence, self-respect, and responsibility for their actions. We feel it is important that our students be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for participation in society. Our philosophy is realized through the development of programs which include a curriculum that incorporates the teaching of Christian values. These porgrams are enhanced through the use of technology, the development of complex thinkg and reasoning skills, and an emphasis on solid academic education.
Catholic education at St. Joseph School and St. Mary Academy strive to provide an excellent education to children, to pass on the Catholic Faith, and to teach discipline and respect, so that students will live out the tenets of their faith in Christ and in His Church throughout their lives.
